As IAHE has stated previously, SB 101, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), is important to Indiana home educators.
To illustrate our point, we are posting two videos from Monday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing. The first testimony is that of Peter Breen. He is an attorney with Thomas More Society, an Illinois State Representative, and he represented Fishers Adolescent Catholic Enrichment Society (FACES) homeschool group in their court battles all the way to the Indiana Supreme Court. They were sued by the state of Indiana because the Indiana Civil Rights Commission has jurisdiction over matters “relating to education”. This particular case involved a chicken dinner, and it should be disturbing to all homeschool groups in Indiana.
The second testimony is from IAHE’s Government Affairs student intern, Nathaniel Cantwell, as to why SB 101 RFRA is important to faith-based home educators.
Stand with IAHE to protect our homeschool rights in Indiana.
The two pillars of homeschool freedom: religious liberty and parental rights. NOW is the time to protect the pillar of religious liberty!
