The internet can be a vast and overwhelming resource for families when they begin homeschooling. Parents want immediate answers, and they don’t even know the right questions to ask. As they search the internet looking for quick answers, they often find answers that are inaccurate.
We know that state organizations are the most valuable resource a homeschool family can find.
Our goals are: to provide accurate and complete information, to raise the profile of state organizations so they are recognized as the EXPERTS they are, and to provide an ongoing revenue stream for organizations all year long.
Start Strong is our two-week crash course offered through Homeschool University for new homeschool families
Homeschool University is a ministry of the Indiana Association of Home Educators.
Intentional Teaching
We know the internet is full of homeschool information, but we’ve taken the answers that families need and organized it into daily lessons. Presented as a two-week, crash course, we’ve also included bonus material that will balance the need for fast answers with deeper teaching.
State Specific Content
Start Strong is created to be a resource that puts YOUR organization in front of new homeschool parents. Our goal is not to build our email list, but yours! We want to connect new homeschoolers to YOU, and we’ll work with you to create your own state-specific lesson for Day One.

You’ll have the ability to sell your course all year long and families will have lifetime access to the content whenever they want. Promote the course now and throughout the year to help parents have success in their homeschool endeavors!
Our Start Strong course will be available for sale to new homeschool families with a value of $79. You will earn 50% of every sale that comes through your course. And, unlike a typical affiliate relationship, YOUR brand and your state organization will be front and center.

ELIGIBILITY
- Program participation is open to organizations that are a member of ACHEL.
AFFILIATE RELATIONSHIP
State organizations are considered program affiliates/independent contractors.
- Affiliates will receive 50% base commission on sales total per quarter.
- Commissions will be paid via Teachable’s affiliate program. While you may have different team members registered in your course during the content development phase, the AFFILIATE should be a single USER account using an email address that maintains the affiliate’s payment information.
“Teachable pays school affiliates in USD on the first of every month (or the next business day if the 1st is on a weekend or US holiday) according to our Monthly Payment Gateway schedule. Due to Teachable’s 30-day refund policy, Teachable must hold funds for at least 30 days before releasing them to affiliates. For example, on March 1st, affiliates would receive a payment for all sales that took place in January. Then, on April 1st, they would be paid for sales made in February, and so on.”
Creating Your Content for Day One
Knowledge of State Law is Foundational
We recognize the need for a family to know about their state organization and their state’s homeschool laws. The first lesson in the course is Exploring Home Education in [Your State]. You will have the opportunity to submit as much content as you want to help our team craft your message. You may use content already available on your organization’s website or you can create fresh content for your course, or a combination of existing and new content, to give families as much value as possible.
Day One Content may consist of:
- Information about your state’s laws
- Instruction on how to withdraw a student from public education
- High school-specific answers
- Information about your organization
- Educational field trips in your state
- An encouragement article
- KEY CONTENT: One of the best ways to establish the value of connecting users with their state organization is through a lead magnet sign-up. If you don’t already have one, we can share several ideas that have worked well for other state organizations.

Each daily lesson ends with a panel discussion called “Let’s Chat” with veteran homeschool parents. Days 2 through 14 are pre-recorded and in place. Our team will work with you to record a panel conversation through Zoom as either a one-on-one interview or a panel discussion with up to 3 of your own people.

Can you explain the difference between Homeschool University and Start Strong?
Homeschool University is the “school”. Start Strong + {your state name} is the course.
Is this course only for new homeschool families?
This course was written with new homeschoolers in mind. We also believe that it is a valuable tool for current homeschool parents that want to take their game to the next level. The course material is timeless and spans from beginning homeschoolers through graduation.
What is the course price?
The regular price for the course is $79. (Similiar how-to-homeschool courses are currently selling for anywhere between $150 to $300.) Why aren’t we charging more? We’ve asked ourselves that same question. The VALUE that we’re providing is worth far more than $100, but we’re focused on serving as many families as possible at a reasonable price.
Can we offer discounts and promotional pricing?
Yes! We will work with you to create:
- An amazing launch price for one or two weeks
- Discount codes for members and leaders
- & more!
ALSO: We will provide a limited number of 100% off discount codes for your board members and key organization volunteers.
What do I need to do on my website?
We recommend that you create a landing page on your site for the course where you can link to the course’s enrollment page with your affiliate link. It’s always beneficial to drive traffic to your own website!
- Your course is hosted completely through our Homeschool University account on Teachable.
- You are welcome to use any text from Indiana’s landing page as would be helpful.
- If you have a WordPress site and use the Divi theme, we are happy to share the Indiana JSON file.
How and where am I allowed to promote the course?
There are no limitations on promotions. The more you promote, the more you will earn.
How can I stay informed and connect with other affiliates?
We host a private Facebook group to connect you with other affiliates. This is a great place to receive updates about the course and brainstorm with other affiliates and learn from one another. (Or something like that)
Who owns the content in the course?
Homeschool University retains all rights and ownership to course content & promotional materials provided by Homeschool University.
Affiliates retain all rights and ownership to the Start Strong course content they provide for DAY ONE and any additional bonus content.
Who retains the student's contact information?
Since all of our courses are hosted on Teachable, we must abide by Teachable’s Privacy Policy. Teachable allows users to opt-out of all email communication.
What does that mean?
Homeschool University wants YOU to connect with your students. The entire course includes multiple calls-to-action for parents to connect directly with their state organization.
How much content can I provide to include for the Day One lesson?
The goal is for each day’s lesson is around one hour of content, but there is no limit on what you can provide. Content can include text, video, downloadable resources, or more. Recommended content includes:
- Information about your organization.
- Information about homeschool laws in your state.
- Information about issuing a high school diploma in your state.
- An encouragement article from someone on your team.
- Let’s Chat video: Each daily lesson ends with a panel discussion called “Let’s Chat” with veteran homeschool parents. Days 2 though 14 are pre-recorded and in place. What if my Day One material needs to be modified in the future?
We can update your Day One content as you develop new material.
What if I have bonus content I would like to include in the course?
Affiliates may provide additional content to include as course bonuses.
- Start Strong includes 10 FREE Workshop MP3 Bonus Recordings provided by the Indiana Association of Home Educators. You are welcome to provide your own convention workshop recordings instead.
- Do you have additional bonus content? Ebooks, printables, or more? Let us know what additional material you would like to include.
What is the Homeschool Marketplace and Resource Center?
Does the course have to be completed in 14 days?
The course will be delivered one day at a time over the initial 14 days after purchase, and then users have LIFETIME access to the course.
Can we change the course branding or create our own graphics?
You may not change the course branding. You can, however, promote your organization and your own branding in any content provided for Day 1. We will create and share with you graphics for special discounts or course promotions. What do you need from my organization to launch our course?
The first step is to complete a signed Affiliate Agreement.
Once we have your agreement we’ll begin working with you on your course!
You’ll provide us with your content for Day One, along with any additional bonus content. Then task your team to prepare your site with a landing page – It’s that easy! We’ll do the rest!
