As homeschoolers, we have a unique gift—the chance to weave learning, family life, and discipleship together every day. Thanksgiving is the perfect moment to pause and recognize just how many blessings this journey holds. It’s a time to remember why we are doing this, why it matters, and why we keep struggling through those difficult days.

Here are just a few of the things we can give thanks for today:

  1. I have the time and freedom to disciple my children.
  2. I can help my children pursue their passions.
  3. I can teach to their learning styles.
  4. We have time to heal or slow down when needed.
  5. We can learn through real-world experiences.
  6. We can get outside for school.
  7. We can learn as a family.
  8. We can read lots of living literature.
  9. I can continue my education right alongside my kids.
  10. I get to be the first voice in my child’s life.

I know homeschooling isn’t easy. I know we all have days when we want to throw in the towel. I know we all, at some time or another, feel inadequate for the job.

I also know that God entrusted our children to us, knowing that—with His help—we are the very best people to love, guide, and educate them each day. I hope you can take time this Thanksgiving to reflect, to smile, and to find a few things to be thankful for.Â
